A bit of history
Between sea and mountain Bagnols en Forêt, a Provençal village perched on the foothills of the Estérel massif, is located at an average altitude of 300 meters. Its history dates back to Antiquity, before being colonized by the Romans.
Over the centuries, it prospered as a small agricultural village.
Today, Bagnols-en-Forêt is a popular tourist spot for its natural landscapes and historical heritage, with its ruins and old stones bearing witness to its past.
It enjoys a temperate climate. The village is surrounded by a magnificent 3,500-hectare forest of oaks, pines and chestnut trees. The territory offers a real palette of colors combining the green of its many wooded areas, the red ochres of the rhyolite cliffs and the blue of the Mediterranean Sea which can be admired from the heights of the Malvoisin woods.
The hiking trails provide access to many remarkable and historical sites such as the oppida of the Forteresse, Bayonne and Castel Diaou, the peak of Gardiette, the old millstone cutting or the climbing sites of the Blavet gorges and the Muéron cave.
By visiting the village through its streets and alleys, you can discover fountains, wash houses, vaulted passages, as well as its church and its many chapels
